Utah - Day 1: Laugh until it hurts

Tuesday evening, the red eye flight took us to Utah.  Drew, Allison, and Sydney were waiting for us there and we met up with Hunter, Emily, and Liam at the airport.

We woke up Wednesday morning to find ourselves here:

There had to be 2 feet on the ground!  These pictures don't do justice to what we saw.

The inside was also beautiful:
What the life!  Liam, hanging out on his blanket in front of the fire.

Precious!

That morning, the girls went to the spa while the dudes babysat.  Allison has a picture, but it was such a treat!

For the evening activity, we went SNOW TUBING:

Baby Liam, Hunter, and Emily

Chris and me

Drew, Sydney, and Allison

Chris and I on our tubes.

Later that evening, the men and I (the other girls were with their babies) linked up tubes and tackled the slide together!  Talk about some speed!  We almost took out the fence at the bottom; when we could finally stand up, Drew said "I have laughed so much it hurts!"

With day 1, we were off to a great start!!

River's Birthday

10 am.  Chris and I got the text that Yegi was in labor.

We called the extended fam and decided we'd head over to the hospital around 5pm.

She had been at the hospital since 2 am, so of course River would be here by then.

We were wrong.  River hasn't followed anyone's schedule yet and his birth proved the same!  So, we all piled up in the waiting room and joined the family that had been there all day...

That's River's family!  All waiting on the first glimpse of his handsome face.

We started making bets on what time he'd be here and what he would weigh.

Then we sent in a spy.  Yegi's Dad:

He heard a baby cry!!!

Since we were the only ones there, we knew it was our baby!

Yegi's mother could hardly contain herself!

Then we heard the lullaby...

that's the way Baptist West announces the birth of a baby.

Congratulations all around!

Then more waiting...  Yegi had a c-section (after hours and hours of labor and pushing) so we had to wait on Chris to come out.

Beth wanted my camera.  Waiting is hard...

The door we all watched.

The doctor who delivered the baby tried to escape out the back door.

But the parents caught her!

She didn't give us any answers, but did confirm everyone was doing well.  :)

Then a nurse said Yegi was requesting her mother:

The blur is Yegi's mother.  She didn't waste any time getting back there.

The rest of us waited...  Until the new daddy came out!

Chris getting a hug from his mother.

Telling us about River.  7 lbs, 7 oz, 20 in.

He had taken pictures in the delivery room:

Announcing the arrival.

Then they let the herd of people back:

River and his grandmother, Libby or G-Mom to him.

River!

River with his great grandmother and grandmother.

Chris and Dee-Daddy.

Grandmother, Madar-Joon, and River.

Yegi's parents and River's new aunt Laila.

My mother with her new great nephew.

Great-Aunt Sonya holding the handsome baby.
Proud sisters!!

Opening his eyes for what I like to think was the first time...

Beth's turn!  You can tell Nana was always close by...  She was waiting on her turn again!
Proud daddy!!

The new family!  Oh, how excited I am for them.  Even this picture just makes me cry.

I'm so glad we could celebrate with them!  Thanks to River for waiting until we got there.  :)

children a reward from him."

Chris blogged about his son's birth.  Read about it here.
