Playing the gui*tar

Boys and girls,

Chris will be back on the big stage tonight.

Last week, he sang and played out at Don Gallo Grill and, thanks to you all (and his mad skills), he was a smashing success!

If you were able to make it out there, thank you!!!  We were so grateful you were there.  Besides the 400 degree sun, it was really a great night.  And because I was out in the crowd, I was especially glad that our people were there.  It meant I had someone to sit with and talk to the entire night.

He'll be back out there doing his thing from 6pm - 9pm tonight!  I hope you can come out and listen to him and also to enjoy some delicious Mexicano food.  (The restaurant is right off the Pellissippi, across from the exit  ramp to Hardin Valley.  Super easy to find.)

Tonight, I'm sad to say I won't be out there in support.  We had a conflicting schedule (as in I'm hosting Bunco at our house), but I think he can handle it without me.  I know, I know...  and I've cried in my pillow about it a few nights...  Anyway, to help make up for it, I wrote him a little love note and stuck it in his microphone pouch last night.  He'll find it while he's setting up.  ;)

So, you should really go out and show him some fan love.  He won't have his wifey/biggest groupie there with him.

You'll be glad you did.

I mean, really - he's pretty much a rockstar.
And in my book, he already is.

Beth + Will

This little happy couple is getting married.

That's my angel face sister and my soon to be brother in law.  {I think he's pretty much the luckiest man on the planet.}

Beth asked me to take their engagement photos.

Isn't this exciting?

OF COURSE I obliged.

I should have thought twice though.  All this kissing on my sister made me want to throw down the camera and tell him NO KISSING UNTIL MARRIAGE!

But then again, they're so darn cute together...

And he could really pass as her brother...

I finally gave in and told him he could touch her.

Ack!  Too much touching my little baby sister.

We had to get away from that pose.

Aren't they pretty?  and handsome?

They make it so easy to get a good picture of them!

The rock.

AKA Will's life savings.

But wouldn't you say it's all worth it when she looks at you like this...

...?

absolutely.

Here's where Will gets his GOLD star for the day...

He put on a button down and we went even more into the 100 degree sun.

Trooper!

It makes me so happy to know that my sister has found her man.

The man that I've been praying for and hoping to come for Beth.

You know the drill...

Someone who's better for my sister than she knew she needed.

Who will love her as unconditionally as humanly possible.

Who, most importantly, will help lead her in the way God is calling them.

There's something about marriage that shows you so much of who you are and how badly we all need a Savior.

At least it definitely has for me.

It's shown me way more of my faults than my husbands.  (That's probably because I married Mr. Incredible.)

Love is so sweet.

Marriage is even better.

That's why I am so giddy about this upcoming wedding!

I love these pictures, but won't their wedding pictures be even better??

This next photo Chris wants to blow up in our house:

But I'm also in love with this one:

Now, the next three they should put in a triple frame or at least side by side each other...

LOVE!

The sun was giving us some gorgeous light (and heat!) right about now...

(I was more comfortable with the touching about right here...  Seems more innocent.)

Sun + water + beautiful couple = love

Love doesn't get much better than this.

Does it little Bethie?

xoxo

Are you a volume or moisturizing kind of girl/boy?

This is important stuff.

My husband and I had a problem when we got married.

He used expensive brand shampoo and conditioner.  I used Pantene.

(You know me - I'm totally a low maintenance kind of girl.  Bahaha!)

Well, together, we decided the expensive stuff had to go.  Hello, budget!  My man had a finance plan and $40 every month for hair cleaning products wouldn't cut it.  He didn't realize just how much shampoo this head of mine requires...

Enter our next option.  Pantene.

And there goes that option.  It didn't stay long.  Chris claims it makes his head itch, which it probably did.  I've just been using it for years so maybe I was immune.

We tried a few options, but both decided we love this particular one:

Say Yes to Tomatoes
Daily volumizing shampoo and conditioner

I love it!  And I'm pretty sure Chris likes it too.  You know men though, they don't really care.  As long as it's not making his head itch, Chris is A-Okay with whatever purchase we make.

It's $8.99 at Target and we find it close to the cosmetics.  I think you can also find it at Walgreens...

So go, in the name of good hair products, and try this shampoo and conditioner!
You may like it, you may not.  But I'm loving it and wanted to pass on the word.

That's all.

Music announcement

Thursday night Chris is playing guitar and singing at Grill Don Gallo.

Grill Don Gallo (right off the Hardin Valley exit) is owned and operated by the same people as Casa Don Gallo = delicious Mexican food.

I'm so excited!  Chris is incredibly talented and loves playing.  When this opportunity came available, he was all about it.

And me too.  There is something about him singing that is really, really attractive to me.

So, if you like Mexican food and great entertainment, we would love for you to join us on Thursday night!  Chris will be singing from around 6pm until 9ish.  Guaranteed fun!  Tell your people and bring your friends.

Granted, I'm bias, but he really is incredible.

I'm so proud of him!  Yay for fun summer nights!

Girls vs. Guys

1.  I really like having friends.

2.  I really like having these friends.

3.  They are great people who like getting together.

4.  Chris and I got a little crazy and had an impromptu game night last weekend.  We only gave ourselves/people 3 days to plan.  Normally we would have sent the email out at least 3 weeks in advance.  Our people know this.

5.  Seth Kehne calls us the "plan to plan" couple.  But that's because he lives on the edge and doesn't plan.

6.  I'm an avid planner.  And I married a planner.  It went downhill from there.

7.  Sometimes we don't even get to see the Kehne's because we have to plan and they can't plan.  By the time they've said okay to seeing us, we've already got another plan...  Unless they catch us on a rare off night we haven't planned anything.  We always love it though when the fates allow and we do get to see them.

And a bunch of other beautiful people.

Like at game night:

Adam (who was letting his chesties flow), Hunter (who had just buttoned up his top two shirt buttons to prevent his chest hair that had just been flowing), Andy (unfazed from what was happening beside him), Seth and Chris  (no comment)

Roughly 22 people came, which is roughly just about everyone we asked.
(Except four who all had good reasons...  the beach, family reunion, blah, blah, blah)

Pretty good for a short-notice PARTY!

I love these people.

Seth took a *few pictures of us girls in the dining room:

[bottom row:  Brooke, Emily C., Emily P., Cameron, and Jennifer
top row:  Katie, Allison, and me]

Chris grilled 48ish hot dogs.  If everyone ate them, that would be 2.18 hot dogs per person.  But not everyone did.  Various reasons.  Four people had already eaten and two girls (Allison and Jennifer) are pregnant.  [Who knew pregos didn't eat hot dogs?  Grilled hot dogs are a summer staple.  This is me, declaring I don't want to be pregnant in the summer.]

So, if you do updated math (22 people minus 6), that means for those of us who did eat hot dogs, there were 3 of them for each of us.

The girls used them for photo props.

Allison and I were completely oblivious.  And if I'm betting, the cigar pose was Emily C.'s idea.  Her face in the first picture is awesome.

You know what I just realized?  Chris and I ate these hot dogs for like 4 days straight after the party.  We probably ate oh, about all of them they rubbed around in their hands.

Oh, pretty friends.

Hostess and Host/Griller-extraordinaire:

I love his *vintage coke shirt from Target.

Maybe I should go get one in my size...

The whole night was his fun idea.

After 2.5 hours of eating and talking (which our group likes to do a lot of!),
everyone started making their way into a very large circle.

Emily + Michael = beautiful babies in their future

Okay - now really - these two came ALL THE WAY FROM MISSISSIPPI for the party!!

[David and Nan = NEWLYWEDS!]

We had a wedding the night before that brought Nan into town.  She's never here long and many times when she is her family takes priority.  (Obviously.)  Anyway, Saturday afternoon they had a change of plans and Nan called me and this is my version of the conversation:

Nan:  Do you guys have plans tonight?

Julie:  Yes, but...

Nan:  Oh, I figured you might - we were just going to see if you guys wanted to grab dinner.

Julie:  COME TO MY HOUSE!  We're having a bunch of people over for hot dogs and games, yada, yada

Nan:  Oh fun!  What can I bring?

Julie:  Just pick up a thing of hot dogs and buns and come on...

Good thing I told her to bring hot dogs.  We could have run out.

So, Nan and David - thank you for Sunday supper, Monday lunch, and Tuesday lunch!

By Tuesday night, Chris told me he had was not going to eat another hot dog.  For a long time.

Lori, I'm so sorry I didn't proof this picture! Your little eyes are closed. But you're both just as happy as ever!

Lori and Clay - Lori and I are in Bible Study together and Clay's a Youth minister.  They are quality...  It helps to have friends like these to make up for any of the inappropriateness of others!  (See below)

One very large game of catch phrase.  Girls vs. Guys style.

There's probably a reason most people don't play this game with such a big crowd.

But it sure was hilarious doing it!

Macy even came out to play for a bit:

But she didn't stay long.  Everything was so loud - she got scared pretty quickly.

(Illustration of inappropriateness in above picture.  Please notice Seth on the left.)

Beth and John - John playing Catch Phrase in action - Jennifer looking on.

My favorite word of the evening?  Belly Dancing.

David acted out the word for us and I'm still laughing.

Andy (who really loves to play catch phrase) and Emily

If you're wondering, the girls won.  By a whole lot.

I can't even tell you how big of a win it was, because it was THAT big.

End of the night pic - me squished between the pretty Clemmons girls.

Have I mentioned that Allison's pregnant?  She sure is.  And she's asked me to help name the baby.  Stay tuned for that one.

The whole night was so fun!
Thank you to all who came and to those who brought all of that food we had.  We couldn't have done it without you.  (Or we could have, but a game of Catch Phrase with just Chris and I wouldn't have been as much fun.)

And as the night was finishing up...
Adam and Drew were playing the wii, Chris and Michael were taking turns playing the guitar, and Emily C. and I were still chatting on the couch (with Macy between us).  I thought to myself...

...What a wonderful life.
Hope you're busy loving on your friends and family this weekend.
It's sure to be a good one.
